Migrating inventory from another warehouse management system is a straightforward process using Pimento's Inventory Upload feature.
Most warehouse systems allow inventory information to be exported into a CSV file, which can then be uploaded directly into Pimento.
This means there is no need to manually enter thousands of inventory records.

How to Transfer Inventory
Step 1: Export Inventory from Your Existing System
Export your current inventory data from your existing warehouse management system.
This will usually include:
SKU information
Quantities
Locations
Lot information (if applicable)
Step 2: Download the Pimento Template
Download the Inventory Upload CSV template from the Inventory Upload page.
This ensures your inventory data is structured correctly for import.
Step 3: Match Your Data
Copy the exported inventory information into the Pimento template.
Ensure all required fields are completed correctly.
Step 4: Create Products and Locations
Before uploading inventory:
Products should already exist within Pimento.
Warehouse locations should already be created.
Step 5: Upload the CSV
Navigate to:
Onboarding → Inventory Upload
Select your client, choose the completed CSV file, and click Upload Inventory.
Step 6: Validate the Import
Once uploaded, review the imported inventory to confirm:
Quantities are correct
Locations are correct
Lot information has been transferred successfully
