Onboarding Location Upload
What is the Location Upload Page?
The Location Upload page is designed to help new clients quickly transfer their warehouse location structure into Pimento.
Rather than manually creating every location one at a time, Pimento directs you straight to the Warehouse Location Bulk Create process.
This allows large numbers of locations to be imported in a single upload, significantly reducing onboarding time.
Why Does This Take Me to Warehouse → Locations → Bulk Create?
Location Upload is simply a shortcut to the Warehouse Location Bulk Create functionality.
When onboarding a new client, one of the first requirements is creating the warehouse location structure that inventory will be stored within.
By taking you directly to Bulk Create, Pimento allows you to:
Create hundreds or thousands of locations quickly
Reduce manual data entry
Maintain consistency with your existing warehouse structure
Speed up onboarding
This is often one of the first steps completed before inventory is transferred into the platform.
Why Use Bulk Create Locations?
Most businesses already have an existing warehouse layout within another Warehouse Management System (WMS) or spreadsheet.
Bulk Create allows you to transfer these locations into Pimento without rebuilding everything manually.
Common location types include:
Shelving locations
Bin locations
Pallet locations
Picking locations
Bulk storage locations
By importing these locations in bulk, your warehouse structure can be replicated quickly and accurately.
Typical Onboarding Process
A typical warehouse onboarding process may look like:
Create Products
Create Warehouse Locations
Upload Inventory
Validate Stock Levels
Begin Warehouse Operations
Locations should always be created before inventory is uploaded, as inventory needs somewhere to be stored.

Important Notes
Locations should be uploaded before inventory.
Bulk Create is significantly faster than creating locations individually.
Existing warehouse location structures can usually be exported from previous systems and imported into Pimento.
FAQs
Do I need to create locations manually?
No. Bulk Create allows multiple locations to be created at once.
Can I import my existing warehouse layout?
Yes. Most warehouse systems allow locations to be exported and then imported into Pimento.
Why can't I upload inventory first?
Inventory must be assigned to warehouse locations, so locations need to exist before inventory can be imported.
